Director & Choreographer - Leonard Anderson
Leonard, has won numerous awards as a director /choreographer: Best Gilbert & Sullivan Award for ‘Iolanthe’ in the Grand Opera House Belfast; Best Choreographer for ‘Fiddler on the Roof’ (again in the Opera House) and also for ‘The Pirates of Penzance’ with Banbridge Musical Society, Best Director - Inaugural Derry Festival for ‘The Boyfriend’; Best Choreographer & Director – Northern Ireland Festival of light opera for ‘The Boyfriend’; Nominated for the Best Director for ‘Pirates of Penzance’. Leonard’s productions of ‘Godspell’, ‘Yeoman of the Guard’ and ‘The King And I’ were nominated for best overall shows in the A.I.M.S. Awards.
Musical Director - Colin Loughead
Colin’s interest in musical theatre began when he left Trinity College of Music, London and was asked to play bassoon in the orchestra for Oliver at the Albery Theatre in London’s West End. He returned, in 1981,to his native Bangor when Oliver closed and continued playing (and teaching) bassoon with the Ulster Orchestra (as an extra), Castleward Opera and with many local amateur operatic societies.
2014 was Colin’s 20th year with Banbridge Musical Society, having made his debut all those years ago conducting Fiddler on the Roof. Since then he has continued as Musical Director in My Fair Lady, The King and I, Oliver, Anything Goes, Honk, Oklahoma, Calamity Jane, Annie, Half a Sixpence, Hello Dolly, The Wizard of Oz , Sweet Charity and a number of Christmas productions, including the premier of Tony Finnegan’s Once upon a Nursery Rhyme. He has also been involved with Bangor Operatic Society, and with Newry Musical & Orchestral Society.
